By the way, what do you think I am eating?
This is my favorite...they are called "beignets". They are old fashioned French doughnuts from New Orleans. They are great with a hot cup of coffee.
Let me introduce myself, my name is David Hebert. I’m in charge of English teaching in this website.
I’ve been living in Japan for more than 3 years. Actually, this picture is from my trip home after
3 years. It was during Golden Week.


皆さん、お元気ですか？ところで私が食べているのは何だかお分かりですか？これは私の大好物の「ベニエイ」です。ニューオリンズにある昔ながらのフランス風ドーナツです。これを熱いコーヒーで食べたら最高です。自己紹介をさせてください。私はデービッド・エーベル、このウェブサイトの英会話番組を担当しています。日本に住んで３年以上経ちます。実はこの写真は今年のゴールデンウィークに３年ぶりに帰国した時の写真です。
　　　
ベニエイ Speaking of “beignets”, this is the place to buy them. It is open24 hours. It is called "Cafe du Monde" which is French for "everyone’s coffee shop".
It is the oldest cafe in America. You can sit, have coffee and beignets and listen to street musicians like in the picture.

「ベニエイ」と言えば、ここのカフェデｭモンデｩ、日本語では「皆さんのコーヒーショップ」とでも訳すのでしょうか、 ２４時間営業のアメリカで一番古いカフェで買うことができます。ここに来れば、コーヒーとベニエイを注文して、この写真のように音楽家たちの演奏を楽しむことができます。


ニューオリンズ My hometown is New Orleans which is surrounded by lots of water. This is the famous Mississippi River. I like to sit near the river and just enjoy the sunshine, relax, and people-watch. You can see many boats and ships everyday. It is a busy river.

私の故郷のニューオリンズは水に囲まれています。この写真はあの有名なミシシッピー河です。私はここに座って日光浴を楽しみ寛ぎ、そして人々を観察するのが好きです。この河は多くの船が毎日行き交い賑やかなのです。
